EMPI X Foose Design rear spoiler for VOLKSWAGEN Beetle

EMPI collaborated with legendary automotive designer Chip Foose to create this EMPI-exclusive rear spoiler. Precision-engineered and manufactured, this modern reimagining of the discontinued "Herrod Helper" spoiler adds true functionality and aerodynamic style to any Beetle. The Foose spoiler and its support elements are laser-cut and precision-bent from 14-gauge T-6061 aluminum for lightweight rigidity. Chip designed the spoiler to provide high-speed stability and improved rear downforce at high speeds. The flap at the rear of the spoiler adds further downforce, while the TIG-welded end plates help direct air over the spoiler element. These features contribute to making the spoiler more efficient than previous designs. The TIG-welded aluminum wing brackets are designed to mount the leading edge away from the bodywork, allowing unobstructed cooling airflow to the engine. The wing is mounted low enough to avoid obstructing rear visibility and high enough to allow the engine hood to be opened without hindrance. The mild steel mounting brackets are 16-gauge and powder-coated black. These brackets attach to the engine cooling grilles. No cutting or drilling is required for installation of the EMPI X Foose Design wing, making it reversible at any time. Stainless steel mounting hardware is used throughout the kit for a clean installation. Includes a pre-applied FOOSE decal on the wing's side panel (removable). The wing surface measures 96 cm wide by 20 cm deep.
